GCIS environment encourages a lightness of spirit; a hunger to discover; a desire to know through exploration, experimenting, debate and interactions that encourage independent thinking to promote International Education. It offers the Cambridge International Examinations from Primary through Secondary and A Levels. Cambridge is the world's largest provider of International Education Programmes and Qualifications for 5 to 19 year olds.

CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY(5-11 YEARS OLD)

Curriculum

Cambridge Primary curriculum framework for Grades I-V includes three core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. This programme enables learners to communicate confidently and effectively develops critical thinking and creative thinking skills. Learners following this curriculum framework will develop competency in English based on a curriculum designed to be successful in any culture and to promote cross-cultural understanding. In addition to core subjects students pursue a second language (French or Hindi), Social Science (Indian & International elements along with Peace Education). Global Perspectives subject is offered for grades 3-8.

Co-scholastic subjects include Art & Craft, Music, Dance, ICT Starters (prescribed by Cambridge), GAIT and Leap Start. In addition to the Co-scholastic subjects a wide range of co-curricular options like Martial Arts - Taekwondo, Football and Volleyball and other activities are offered (please check the CCA activities page).

Leap Start Enrichment Program

The Leap Start Kindergarten to Grade 5 Programme for Primary introduces standards-based, developmentally appropriate sports activities to students. Some of the major objectives of this programme include body and spatial awareness. Loco motor and non-loco motor skills, directionality, pathways levels and tempos balance: small and large objects, manipulation, flexibility, agility and strength.

Leap Start activities include Volleyball, Hockey, Basket Ball, Football, Baseball, Broomball, NitroBall and many more.

CAMBRIDGE SECONDARY 1(11-14 YEARS OLD) / CHECKPOINT

Curriculum

The key objectives for the secondary program are to ensure that every child evolves as an independent inquirer who can communicate their thoughts effectively and with confidence. Core Subjects include English, Math and Science, which are tested through a diagnostic test, Cambridge Checkpoint at the end of Grade 8. Cambridge Checkpoint tests are designed for students who are beginning courses leading to Cambridge IGCSE or Cambridge O-Level examinations.

In addition to core subjects, students pursue a second language (French or Hindi), Social Science (Indian & International elements along with Peace Education). Global Perspectives subject is offered for grades 3-8.

CAMBRIDGE SECONDARY 2(14-16 YEARS OLD) / CAMBRIDGE IGCSE

Curriculum

The IGCSE is an extensive two-year program for Grades 9 and 10. It is a profound programme which enables the child to apply all the previously gained knowledge. The Curriculum enables the student to acquire 21st century skills of critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving and effective communication. The Cambridge portfolio of IGCSE qualifications provides a solid foundation for higher level courses such as GCE Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Levels (AS Level and A Level), and the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Dip) as well as excellent preparation for employment.

GCIS offers both IGCSE and ICE options. A student who takes a minimum of five subjects qualifies for IGCSE certificate. ICE (International Certificate of Education) is awarded to students who opt seven subjects, including two languages and one subject from the subject groups mentioned.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL AS & A LEVELS

Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS) and Advanced Level (A):
Thousands of learners worldwide gain places at leading universities every year with Cambridge International AS and A Levels.

      The AS & A Level develop:
      •    In-depth subject content
      •    Independent and logical thinking; clear and precise communication in English
      •    Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
      •    Handling and evaluating different types of information source
      •    Understanding implications, thinking logically and presenting reasoned and coherent arguments
      •    Making judgments, recommendations and decisions

Cambridge International A-Level is typically a two-year course, and Cambridge International AS Level is a one-year course.
At GCIS, students that continue with CAIE and the newly joined students who would like to pursue Cambridge qualifications, take the AS level in Grade 11 and A level in Grade 12.

1. Minimum 3 subjects to be chosen; every major university across the world has a pre-requisite of 3 subjects.
2. English Language (AS Level) is compulsory and is studied over a period of two years.
3. AS level of English Language is mandatory for Medical Entrance Exams in India.
4. Mathematics is highly recommended at least at the AS levels for admission into top colleges and universities in India and Overseas. 
5. The results are announced by May 20th every year; this enables the student to attend the Indian Entrance Exams for Medical/Engineering Courses.
