Kindergarten

GCIS Kindergarten Program is holistic in nature and prepares the toddlers to have a smooth transition to Indian and International Curricula in primary school. The school offers CBSE and Cambridge Primary programs from Grade 1.

 

Internationally best practices along with National Standards form an Integrated Curriculum for Kindergarten.

It focuses on learning, development and care for 3 to 5 year old children. Our curriculum concentrates on communication and language, personal, social, emotional and physical development - a wholesome personality development. Specific focus includes literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

 

Our learning - focused approach is achieved through theme based playway activities. All the mentioned learning areas are taught through cross-curricular focused activities.

A student profile is generated for every child to provide a comprehensive understanding for the parents about their wards' learning during the Kindergarten program.

 

School days in Kindergarten are the best days! Kindergarten days involve a fine blend of instruction, structured play, child- centered activities, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. There is a strong sense of classroom community and excitement in these rooms. You ma see a cozy reading area, welcoming whole group activity area and child sized tools and manipulatives to facilitate student learning.

 

Here are some components of a typical kindergarten day.

  • 8:30 am - Arrival Time & Registration.
  • 8:35 am -Circle Time – During this time students may be reading and identifying important features in a morning message, discussing and sharing important events in their lives.

  • Session-1(1hour) – Students get an opportunity to learn various specific focus areas through Literacy, Math, Understanding the world centers.
  • 9:50 – 10:15 –Recess time. Students will generally eat a healthy snack with their Class facilitators
  • Session-2 (45 minutes)– Guided Reading / Read Aloud
  • Session -3 (50 minutes)– Students get an opportunity to learning various specific focus areas through Art and Building Centers.

All students will attend at least one of the following co-scholastic activities everyday. Physical Education, Art and Craft, Dance, Lego Lab and Music.

  • 12:00 noon – Dispersal

 

GAIT

GAIT (Grooming Artistic Innovation and Talent) is  a first of its kind creative movement education program in India.

GAIT enables children discover their creative potential, using movement as a medium of expression.

Elements of dance and theatre are used to stimulate innovative thinking. By introducing the dimension of performing arts in education, GAIT assists in the overall development of a child with a focus on creative, physical, cognitive, emotional and social aspects.

 

GAIT FOSTERS INDEPENDENT CREATIVE THINKING.

 

Children need to experience the unpredictable and the uncertain to get creative. They  need lessons with element of surprise.

GAIT’s early childhood curriculum creates an experiential learning process for children using movement, music, games, story and props. Our energetic and attractive mascot – FROBBY leads children through the classes in an engaging and fun manner.

Leap Start

The Leap Start Early Childhood (EC) Program involves all children encourages them to be highly active, incorporates school readiness skills and develops confident and competent movers. The Primary goal of the EC program is to teach the fundamentals of movements through exploration.

The Leap Start Kindergarten to Grade 2 Programme for the primary grades introduces standards based, developmentally appropriate activities to students. Some of the major objectives of this programme include body and spatial awareness. Loco motor and non- loco motor skills, directionality, pathways levels and tempos balance: small and large objects, manipulation, flexibility, agility and strength.
